Kabaka To Attend Federo Meeting

BUGANDA Kingdom is to conven an extra-ordinary joint meeting of the cabinet and clan leaders (Abataka) at Bulange today to discuss President Yoweri Museveni�s proposals on federalism and the creation of Mengo Municipality.

Katikkiro Joseph Ssemwogerere, who will lead a delegation in tomorrow�s second round of talks with the President, will chair the meeting.

On Friday, Mengo will hold a day-long workshop on federalism to be attended by Kabaka Ronald Mutebi at Twekobe in Mengo palace.

Several prominent people in Uganda including bishops from the Catholic and Anglican churches will address the workshop.

MPs and central government ministers have been invited.
CBS FM radio has for days now been running adverts mobilising Baganda federalists to turn up in big numbers for the workshop.

The workshop, organised by clan leaders, will start at 10:00am.
The theme of the workshop is �Buganda in the past, present and future�.

The retired bishop of Masaka, Dr. Adrian Ddungu Kiwanuka, will be the keynote speaker. He will talk about the effect of the 1966 crisis on Buganda�s traditions.

The retired bishop of Mukono, Dr. Michael Ssenyimba, will present a paper on �The biting poverty in Buganda�. Rubaga South MP Ken Lukyamuzi will discuss a paper on �Kabaka�s powers in Buganda Kingdom.

Kampala advocates Godfrey Lule and Charles Peter Mayiga will discuss federalism.
Luweero district chairman Haji Abdul Nadduli will discuss the Land Act and its effect on Buganda, while Mukono law enforcement officer Betty Nambooze will discuss why Baganda are maligned.

Prof. Munakukaama will discuss the way forward and Katikkiro Ssemwogerere will close the workshop at 5:30pm.

Others to feature are former minister Kakyama Mayanja, Mrs. Joyce Mpanga and the Abataka Grace Nduggwa Ssemakula, Francis Mbaziira, Kayiira and Kayita Musoke Makabugo.
