As you know, the UK is not the only state interested in manipulating Africa and African affairs for its interest, for example the United States Congress has two specific subcommittees, one for each house, dedicated to the furtherance of US interests vis a vis Africa.

The Senate Subcommittee is part of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations
