KAMPALA - Aswa County MP, Mr Reagan Okumu, yesterday introduced the newly formed political party to the public. The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) was formed after a merger of Reform Agenda (RA), Parliamentary Advocacy Forum (Pafo), National Democratic Forum (NDF) and other individuals.

The colours of the new party are sky blue, green, red and yellow, with sky blue, the dominant colour, symbolising heavenly peace. Reform Agendas weekly press conference at Kamwokya yesterday was turned into an FDC event, attended by key leaders of the constituent political groups.

Present were RAs Sam Njuba, Pafos Augustine Ruzindana, NDFs Chapaa Karuhanga and Mr David Pulkol, among others. Reading out a party statement, Okumu said FDC would be built into a strong democratic mass organisation independent of any of its present and future leaders.

Njuba, Ruzindana and Karuhanga signed the statement on Saturday, after FDC adopted the party constitution. They challenged the government to create a level playing field for political actors by disbanding the illegal paramilitary groups like the Kakooza Mutale type.

Mutale, a senior Presidential Advisor, runs Kalangala Action Plan, which allegedly beats up opposition supporters especially during election seasons.
