Subject~ CAMP - new guide : Documents on African Political History
Date~ Thu, 16 Sep 2004 14:44:56 -0500
CAMP Members:
I am pleased to relate that the Center for Research Libraries has posted
another new guide to one of the important CAMP collections of African
political ephemera.
Documents on African Political History, 1938-1970, compiled by Dr. Ruth
Schachter Morgenthau, includes political party materials (1945-1963) and
government documents (1938-1970) of various African countries. The
collection guide has been available in printed form for some time but, due
to its hand-written portions has been unavailable for full-text
presentation. An upgraded and revised version now appears on the CAMP Web
site under "collection guides"
(http://www.crl.edu/areastudies/CAMP/collections/campguide.htm) and is
available directly at:
http://www.crl.edu/areastudies/CAMP/collections/morgenthau.pdf
The collection, comprising 23 microfilm reels, contains core documentation
and important primary resource material used as a basis for Dr.
Morgenthau's prize-winning book, "Political Parties in French Speaking
West Africa." (1965 winner of the Melville J. Herskovits award).
The newspapers and serials contained within the collection have been
cataloged separately and contain a number of unique titles not previously
referenced in OCLC. A listing of these titles may be found by searching
the Center's catalog with the series title "Documents on African Political History."
Any suggestions for improvement are welcome. Please pass this on to
interested individuals or other listservs.
