KAYUNGA - Police in Kayunga on Saturday bloked a federo sensitisation workshop organised by a Buganda kingdom official, Mr George Ssevume, at Kangulumira subcounty. Kayunga district Police Commander, Mr James Royikire, directed the organiser, who had earlier been permitted by the police to call off the workshop. Royikire, who threatened to deploy police at the sub county main hall, said the workshop was not necessary for the area. That workshop is illegal. It should not take place and its even uncalled for, he told Ssevume at Kayunga. The workshop was to be addressed by the Lubaga south MP, Mr Ken Lukyamuzi and the Mukono district councillor, Ms Betty Nambooze. Lukyamuzi condemned the police for working against the constitution and said his team had not committed crime. He said the government should translate the constitution for the police officers. Buganda kingdom recently decided to start a federo sensitisation workshops to equip the public with accurate information about the federal system. |
