Karamoja Peace and Environment Protection Services (KAPEPS) association has advised the government to carry out mass sensitisation before embarking on the disarmament programme in the area.
"People need to know the gun has scattered families, increased the number of orphans and widows, and brought about robbery by the," the chairman Kapeps, Mr John Bosco Akore, said.
He told The Monitor on phone on Wednesday that successful disarmament would depend on the government addressing the fears of the Karimojong.
He said the government should convince the warriors by deploying troops along the Kenya and Sudan borders to ward off foreign attacks
