KCC seeks sh7b for conference PLANNING: Byandala By Catherine Ntabadde
KAMPALA City Council (KCC) is seeking over sh72b to improve infrastructure, ahead of the Commonwealth conference in 2007. City engineer Abraham Byandala said the government had asked KCC, Entebbe Municipality and the Civil Aviation Authority to present their budgets. He said the sh72.7b would cater for roads, street lighting, pedestrian walkways, garbage collection and general cleaning. Byandala said KCC wanted to install lights on all roads in the city centre and on Gaba road before 2007. He said most city roads would be worn out by 2007. Malta will host the conference in 2005.
