Uganda:
Soldiers
of Uganda Peoples Defence Forces brutally beat up and critically injured four
Acholi Parliamentarians in Kitgum district. Honourable MPs, Professor Latigo,
Michael Chula, Odonga Otto and Reagan Okumu were beaten up last night and this
morning. It all began yesterday, when, the soldiers beat up and dispursed a
peaceful gathering of unarmed civilians who had gathered for consultations with
the four MPs on the white paper. The four parliamentarians were again this
morning stopped and beaten up by over thirty soldiers who said they had been
ordered not to allow the MPs get out of the car. While Honorable Okumu and
Latigo reported to Kitgum Police
station, Hon Otto Odonga and Michael Chula who had gone to lodge their complain
in the military barracks, on their way back were stopped and beaten up by the
same UPDF soldiers who beat up Odonga Otto and Chula for the second time this
morning. Chula and Odonga Otto were rescued by a Brigadier
Nyero.
