Security operatives from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) yesterday arrested a brother to Col. Dr Kizza Besigye.
Mr Joseph Musasizi commonly known as Saasi is the manager of Total Petrol Station, Nsambya. Besigye owns the station. The Acting CMI chief, Maj. James Mugira, last evening said Musasizi was under their custody.
"Yes, he is our guest. We have invited him to answer a few queries related to security," Mugira said without elaborating. Five CMI non-uniformed operatives arrested Musasizi at Crane Bank on Kampala Road where he had gone to deposit the company's money from the day's sales.
A cashier at Nsambya Total, Ms Jessica Ojulong, who was with Musasizi at the time of arrest, said two vehicles had been trailing them since morning.
She said a Toyota Corolla had been waiting at the petrol station from about 8am until about 12.45pm when Musasizi arrived for work.
"When he arrived, as he was walking into the supermarket, the men called him but he ignored them. He asked me to come out and we go to the bank. As we were driving off, another car, a Toyota Mark II arrived with two men in it," she said. The men followed him to the bank and allowed him to transact his business before they arrested him.
Dr Besigye, a former presidential candidate in 2001, fled the country in August that year citing political persecution and harassment by the State security apparatus.
Many members of his political organisation, the Reform Agenda, have been either arrested on treason charges or forced to flee the country fearing arrest for alleged subversion.

The government claims Besigye is leading a rebel group, the People's Redemption Army, with bases in eastern DR Congo. Earlier this year Musasizi was removed from an Arusha-bound Akamba bus in Kampala by CMI operatives. The operatives took him to their base at Kitante and later searched his residence in Namasuba, but released him the same day without charge.
Musasizi's wife Christine Musasizi said she was shocked by the arrest because she did not know the reason. She said the previous time they arrested him, they did not give the reason and they released him without charge. Musasizi' eldest sister, Ms Margaret Kifefe, said she had heard about her brother's arrest, but she was out of the country and had not received details.
