According to Henry Dungu, the area chairman, �Doctor � Siraje Kizito refused to 
close down his clinic after authorities discovered that he was not a trained 
practitioner. Besides, the clinic lacked standard facilities. 

Many private health units in Uganda are more ill than the patients they treat. 
They do not have basic facilities and qualified staff, consequently they cannot 
perform core tests to help in the treatment of patients. 

�If a laboratory is so small, people with highly contagious disease like 
tuberculosis may infect others or even the health workers,� explains Alex Ococi 
Jungala, board member of the Medical Laboratory Technology board.

Fire battle 
KAMPALA � A solution to city fire outbreaks is coming soon. Kampala City 
Council (KCC) is to acquire fire-fighting equipment to combat the fires, Mayor 
Ssebaana Kizito has said. He was addressing a council meeting at City Hall on 
Wednesday.

KCC to raze 
KAMPALA � Dilapidated structures at the Old Taxi Park are to be demolished to 
lease plots to developers. The structures, which include about 30 shops owned 
by Kampala City Council (KCC), are on Ben kiwanuka Street. Mayor John Ssebaana 
told a meeting on wednesday that the structures were built in the1950s.
