Whether in politics, the economy, or health matters, one of Uganda's
biggest problems currently is that Museveni and an asinine cabal
will sacrifice anything, including lives and their honor (what little
they had or is left), to remain in power and enjoy the spioils of
office. Before the alcoholic George Bush ever thought of kicking the
bottle, Uganda had, thanks to so many level-headed patriots like
the late Bishop Misaeri Kauma, developed a HIV/AIDS policy based on
pragmatism not religious absolutism.
Since he publicly alleged that Dr. Besigye was HIV positive and
therefore unfit to contest the presidency, Museveni has been doing all
he can to undo the progress we've made in HIV/AIDS control and
prevention. So much for all the praise being heaped on him
for leading that anti-AIDS/HIV war.
