Inside story why the Peace deal
failed. It all started at the beginning of December
when the peace broker knew for sure that she is headed for a huge shock in the
near future even when she rode in someof the best anti personell vehicles with
high geared escort down and up the dusty entertwining Roads. In her mind she
could vividly see a frustration trap laid well ahead of her by the system that
she has devotedly served. Betty Bigombe knows for sure that Museveni
never wants Acholi to have peace or peace to have Acholi, not as long as he
(Museveni) lives and rules Uganda. In fact, Museveni draws enormous passion at
receiving news that the already shattered social and economic fibers of the
Acholi which previously gave them political force continues to be destructed by
the Luciferian LRA forces and his field commanders who have
benefited. Betty Bigombe has largely misfired in timing
her political career in Uganda. Ever since she heard that Hon. Mao would not be
returning to constituency politics she has been jubilating. For her, this
sounded like a natural moment accorded to her, with her extraordinary courage to
walk down the bushes without a scratch or scare from these LRA imps and her
previous embarrassing defeat in the hand of a rookie university law graduate. In
her minds, she believed she could make a fundamental stride to bring peace in
Acholi as her major political capital to vie almost unopposed - as a heroine,
for a vacant Gulu Municipality seat. If there is anything that Betty Bigombe
ever dreams of, then it is seating in the Parliament of Uganda in the name of
Gulu Municipality. But she has deliberately refused to acknowledge
her boss inherent intentions of enslaving the Acholi people. While Museveni
wishes well for Betty, he definitely does not wish well for Acholi people after
all, to him, he has got personal chores to settle with people who once made him
sleep in Luwero jungles as opposed to his current luxuries in Nakasero and
Rwakitura and these are impoverished people who have deliberately refused to
vote for him, so they deserve to suffer until eternity. That is why on Monday December 11th,
2004 while at Acholi Lodge, Betty Bigombe confided in a couple of her visitors
that, despite her efforts, government seems not to be happy with her efforts to
initiate peace talks because she is directly interfering with the regimes
policies and interests. Government even accuses her of sabotaging donor cash
flow should she break loose and bring the Kong rebels out and home like a hunter
who returns with rabbits for dinner! On the 13th of December she received
several intimidating phone calls from military big shots in Gulu advising her to
stop stepping on their toes. Three days later, a plot o assassinates Sam Kolo
and his team was hatched so that chances of ever talking peace ends with the
blood spill of the LRA top commanders. The main reason why UPDF dogs of war never wish
to see this hopeless war ended is because they have benefited from every means
available, however, what has been concealed and the reason the 4 Acholi MPs were
battered at Pader is because UPDF officers continue to plough vast stretches of
land to plant rice and other commodities. They even harvest Marijuana from Pader and
Gulu, which they later on export through a neat mesh of international criminal
organizations in the name of weapons trade (read Ugandan firms named as
dealers of arms to Zimbabwe- new vision Jan 1st 2004?). Further
reports alludes that UPDF soldiers continue to sell vast numbers of rifles to
Congolese rebels. So any peace may disrupt these illicit
trades. A group of UPDF officers planned and ambushed
tracks on Kitgum/Lira Road in disguise as LRA rebels. In fact, Kony had issued
cessation of hostility to all his commanders and surely Kony seems to have
reached a point of constipation with a war whose agenda is as oblivious as the
their illusionary ten commandments. All these ill moves by UPDF drove a thicker
wedge that divided the little simmering trust the rebels had started building in
the entire process, in fact the whisper that one LRA made to Sam Kolo (read
The Monitor Dec 2nd, 2004. Why the peace talk failed by Frank
Nyakairu) was a counter intelligence report about the impending plan to
assassinate their entourage. That sent a cold chill along the rebels spine and
sent them as wild as ever. It is the government, which squandered the
peace deal, no one else. So, poor Betty Bigombe must look for another
alternative since she failed to win the confidence of his boss and that of the
rebel, both of which could have heavily rewarded her with either a Nobel peace
award or Nimara Award and (or) the Gulu Municipality seat in Parliament of the
republic of Uganda that she has always dreamt of! Let everyone know that time will come when
these NRM people shall be rewarded in their own tokens, when Acholi people
live in this inferno, we are celebrating with peace barbs and dancing off with
joy, this is shameful, as Ugandans we should all be
outraged. Mikele Atugonza 2005 M. A. Production A subsidiary of MoKoms Communications Inc.
