Whereas the author is right in his jest for Pan-Africanism, he repeats
typical mistakes by missing two crucial points while suggesting on how to
achieve economic independence:
- collectivism does not work in our present capitalistic setting. Therefore if you are aiming at economic independence in a capitalistic setting, you inevitably have to apply caplitalistic methods (which include individualism to a certain extent). This is not my wisdom but that of Deng Xhiaopeng who laid the foundation for the chinese economic growth.
- you need alliances to achieve certain things. The alliance the Asian in Spike Lee´s film built was an alliance limited in time and scope, but it saved his business and thus served his interests.Which was very clever. Now, why should we not be just as clever to strike alliances limited in time and scope to achieve our goals?
In short the advice is: where ever applicable, copy the strategies of
others like (Deng and the Korean "genius") to serve your/our
interests.

Think back to 1989 and the Spike Lee joint, Do the Right Thing. After rogue police officers murdered character Radio Raheem (using the infamous "Anthony Baez" chokehold), the angered and enraged
neighborhood residents took to the streets. Quickly, a rebellion
ensued, engulfing Sal's Famous Pizzeria in the process. But when it
came time to move on the Asian market, a peculiar spectacle occurred......Re: Rwanda Following Leopold's Steps (Opinion, The Monitor (Kampala), Dec. 21, 2004The opinion published in The Monitor (Kampala) newspaper of Dec. 21, 2004, about Rwanda following Leopold's steps, is quite provoking; and the call for taking steps toward bringing to close, Paul Kagame's adventure into the DRC this third or fourth time around, need must not be ignored by all politically and economically weighty Africans concern about losses of innocent lives in that beautiful and yet endowed region of the continent.......!__________________________________________________
