GULU- Three passengers were killed and several others suffered bullet injuries when a vehicle they were traveling in was ambushed by suspected "LRA rebels" in Gulu district on Friday. The ambush took place at Labworomor village in Palaro sub-county, about 40 kilometers north of Gulu town Among the injured persons was the driver, only identified as Lowala, who suffered bullet wounds on the back. One of the dead was identified as Christine Oyella, a resident of Kolo quarters in Layibi division in Gulu municipality. Her body was taken to Lugore centre. The other two bodies, whose identity could not be established easily, were transported to Palaro sub county headquarters. Some of the injured passengers were taken to Gulu Referral Hospital while others were taken to Lacor Hospital. The Regional Army spokesman, Lt. Paddy Ankunda, said the victims were civilians returning to Gulu town. |
