NPART sells assets cheaply
ACTIVE: NPARTs E. Mujasi and E. Kabanza open bids
By Mikaili Sseppuya
The Non-Performing Assets Recovery Trust (NPART) sold a four-hectare plot for as low as sh280,000 due to lack of competition when the bids were opened on Tuesday.
The bidding was conducted by NPARTs marketing officers, Josephat Ntare and Emmanuel Mujara.
Almost half of the properties were not bidded for. There were 37 bids for the 63 properties and none for the plant and machinery.
We have been selling regularly. The response was low because of little interest, NPARTs board chairman Matiya Lubega said.
Most of the properties were farmland and far from the city.
Ntare said seven properties were withdrawn before the bidding because the owners had arranged to clear their indebtedness.Published on: Thursday, 10th February, 2005
