NATIONAL Resistance Movement Organisation (NRM-O) spokesman Ofwono Opondo yesterday warned former local government minister Bidandi Ssali against making careless comments and accused him of nursing grudges against individuals who are loyal to the Movement.
Ofwono was reacting to Bidandis letter to President Yoweri Museveni in which he (Bidandi) accused the Movement Secretariat, the NRM and the government of keeping quiet about Kakooza Mutales Kalangala Action Plan (KAP) activities. Bidandi Ssali is stupid. He does not have the capacity to understand how the government works. He was a local government minister for many years and that was the time when Kalangala Action Plan was formed. What did he do when he was minister in charge of local government?
If he has a specific case against Kakooza Mutale, let him go to the courts of law but he should stop making careless comments about individuals. He should re
tire
peacefully to Kiwatule and be a spectator rather than nursing grudges against individuals who have maintained their loyalty to the Movement, he said.
Bidandi, a former second Vice-chairman on the Interim Executive Committee of the NRM, was in a March 2 letter responding to the Presidents letter of November 6, which accused him of propagating falsehoods and insulting the President.
Bidandi in his letter cited, The impunity and arrogance with which Kakooza Mutale trains youth brigades including military training under the guise of mobilising for the return of Museveni come 2006. He added, In doing all this, however, the Movement Secretariat, the NRM or even the government cannot dare raise a finger.
The training, according to the press, also involves arms completely outside the legal provisions. I wonder what will happen if youth of this country balkanise into armed wings in support of different political parties especially during election camp
aigns.
Health Minister Jim Muhwezi also said yesterday that Bidandi should not try to impose his views on Ugandans.
Ugandans have a right to debate anything that determines their destiny. The views of the majority shall prevail. Who does Bidandi think he is? Ugandans will be given a chance to discuss their future and the views of the majority will win the day, he said.
Bidandi said kisanja (third term) crusaders were manipulating and blackmailing the population to make sure presidential term limits are scrapped.
