It has always been the policy of Uganda Peoples Congress  to pursue mature non-violence politics in our country.  On the contrary eversince 1980, it has been the stated policy of the Museveni's NRM to engage in Violence in a bid to gain power. Many of our fellow citizens in Luwero and now Northern Uganda  have lost their lives  in useless wars as a consequency of this NRM policies.  It may be the Wish of the UPC as a party to continue with the none violence approach  to politics in our country, but then how can it be the wish of ordinary fellow citizens all throughout the country to continue  to remand silence, when Museveni  and his Movement continues to engage in the politics of violence against our people. Individual have a right granted by the Ugnada constitutions to fight oppression  by any means neccessary. and if people choose to execise that right, then there is no offense in doing so.

Leaders of different political forces have condemned political violence during consultations and campaigns and have requested for a roundtable dialogue.

The call follows the alleged threat on the life of the LC3 Chairman, Bungatira sub-county, Mr Tonny Kitara, by unknown gunmen and the arrest of Mr David Penytho and Mr Stephen Olanya, the LC5 Councillor for Lamogi and LCI Chairman of Green Valley Bardege respectively.

Kitara has since defected to NRM-O after applying for amnesty.

Addressing mourners during the burial of the district DP Vice-Chairman, Alfonse Ocan, on March 13, the LC3 Chairman of Bar-dege, Mr Christopher Acire, said it seemed the NRM government did not want to see people of Lamogi in leadership positions.

The DP district chairman, Mr Uma Kerobino, said the government had an agenda to intimidate members of the opposition.
