Citizens:
It matters  not how many "poison detector"  Kaguta buys..at the end of the day when you day arrive you simply go..like the rest of the people you have been "KIRRUING'. That aside, I thought it was rather interesting that right about this time , Kaguta  would be spending Uganda tax payers money to  buy I hear " Posion detector"...with so many Brutus runing around , If I were Kaguta I would be watching my back instead!

State House is planning to step up President Yoweri Museveni's security including testing the water and food that the first family consumes, The Monitor has learnt.

However, State House Comptroller, Mr Richard Muhinda, yesterday denied that Shs863m had been spent to acquire hi-tech equipment to test food and water for the first family to avoid risk of contamination and poisoning.

Sources had told The Monitor that the toxin detector gadget was about to be shipped from South Africa.

Muhinda denied the reports saying State House spent Shs23,143,500 on a food analyser for Museveni in the last financial year and it would be wasteful to buy another one for the same purpose. "I have not planned for the procurement of that equipment. The one we bought last year was less than Shs24m including the materials to be used. I think some people are up to something by creating stories," Muhinda said.

The Monitor source said the government was proposing to purchase security equipment to boost the security of Museveni and other VIPs, especially in the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM) to be held in Uganda in 2007.

Presidential Guard Brigade (PGB) Commandant, Lt. Col. Leo Kyanda who denied a security equipment had been bought from South Africa said, "There has been a proposal to enhance the President's security. There are technical needs which are standard internationally but as you may appreciate there are budget limitations. So we cannot have all we need."

In July 2003, Museveni while defending himself against The Monitor's story that his daughter, Ms Natasha Kainembabazi Karugire, flew the Presidential jet to Germany to deliver her first born, said he could not take chances as local doctors cannot always be trusted.

"The fact that I detest a wasteful lifestyle is well known to Ugandans, except those blinded by greed and envy. However, when it comes to security for myself, my family and my country there is no compromise," Museveni said.

He said he had been the principal target of many enemies.
