Alur, Lugbara in Masindi miss voter registration
By Collins Afa

NEBBI - The chairman of the Nebbi Community in Masindi, has said the Alur and Lugbara living in Biisso sub-county are being blocked from registration during the ongoing voters registration update. Mr Sam Okaba said this in a letter dated March 14, addressed to the chairman of the Electoral Commission.

He said the Alur and Lugbara were not being registered on grounds that they are not Ugandans. Okaba alleges that the people of the two tribes on the Local Council I and III had been replaced with people of other tribes.

Mr Peter Okecha, the youth councillor of Bisso and Mr William Fuadaga, are among the LCs, who were demoted on grounds that they are not Ugandans, he said.

He said the Alur and Lugbara had stayed in Masindi for decades.
We have a right to participate in the ongoing voters registration update exercise, Okabas letter reads in part.
