Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu has said he will never return to the Movement. Muntu is national coordinator of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
"I Mugisha Muntu to change from FDC to NRMO, I would rather die and be taken to Kitunga the home for my mother to bury me," he said on Easter Monday.
|
He was speaking during a consultative meeting at Maj. John Kazoora's home in Rutooma. Kazoora is the Member of Parliament for Kashari and an FDC supporter.
"Do not count me among those that will go back to NRMO. Before we left the Movement, we thought over it for long," Muntu said.
He said FDC is ready to sit at a round table and negotiate with NRMO.
"We are even ready to kneel in front of the Movementists if that is what will save the country from sliding back to anarchy. But we are not ready to accept intimidation," he charged.
|
He said he and some of his friends have been liberated from intimidation that NRMO uses as an election strategy.
He challenged President Yoweri Museveni to tell the country why the popularity of the Movement has gone down yet during the 1981-86 guerrilla war, the National Resistance Army rebels (now UPDF) relied on the population for protection.
