RDC warns NGOs on opposing govt
By Joseph Mugisa

KABAROLE - The Resident District Commissioner, Mr Charles Ndiwa Chemasuet, has said security authorities in the region have blacklisted civil society organisations which oppose the government.

He warned the government would not entertain such organisations which are confrontational, abusive and undermine the countrys peace.

The government wants CSOs which can help it fight poverty by implementing most of its programmes, but not those which threaten the countrys security under the guise of NGOs, Chemasuet said.

This was during the inaugural meeting for the Rwenzori Association of NGOs and Networks (Rannet) at Kagote SDA Church Hall in Fort Portal town on Wednesday.

A political mobiliser in the RDCs office, Mr Godfrey Nyakahuma, said the CSOs should be careful when they are addressing the public on controversial political issues such as the current transition to multiparty politics.
