We say when a revolution stays too much in place, it begins to devour itself while it collapses and indeed, Tumukunde is just one of the victims. However, for Tumukunde, I have no mercy or pity over his corrupted soul. Imagine how many good people Tumukunde arrested, killed and
tortured when he was at CMI or ISO. The ghost of those who died in his hands must haunt him mercilessly.
I pray that some day murderers like Mayombo and Kale Kaihura also get their shares of the cake. These people will be hunted in and out and grought to book for all their crimes against humanity.
Tumukunde, if you can read this, then kumbuka siku ku, when you ordered for torturing of our people with your infamous "debrief" order!Museveni will miss a great JIK(Jinja Iganga Kamuli) manager during campaigns.

I dont know the rules that govern the army in Uganda, so I will not mention my side in his case.
One word of caution though to the arresting bodies. They
need to be careful in their decisions. I feel sorry for Tumukunde, but at the same time, his arrest should serve as a warning to those who feel they have all the power. He (Tumukunde) was popular in the 2001 elections and I am sure he never imagined he would be on the other side of the coin. So, those holding the power now should be careful. One good turn deserves another.

TX USA1st June, 2005 2:06 AMAnyone Read ANIMAL FARMIt's not too long ago since i read George Orwell's Animal Farm, it's Ironic because i read it at a time wen almost everything in the book could be related to what was happening with the Kisanja' thing and the movement, and now Tumukunde's arrest epitomises it, if you haven't read that book and you have sometime, pliz try and read it, you wont be suprised at how related this is to the current situation. The movement is not going to be any different from
most african governments that have stuck to power for decades. it's quiet sad seeing all this going on, the infaltion rate is scaring so bad so that the economy might not keep up and whatelse will the m'vet have to credit 'emselves with? Tumukunde's arrest justified alot of things, majorly the unrest within the movement itself, Tumukunde worked xceptionally hard to see m7 win the last election and now it's unbeleivable he's b'me a victim of his own work!
MOBUTU ruled for over 3 decades but he had an end eventually, every dog has it's day, with the VP making all those comments in the media, if the opposition unite they might have a chance, in balloting i doubt it so much, i wish them all the luck. let's take a leaf from Mandela and we shall have peace once and for all

in Uganda we have two groups of people in the Army. Those who can make political statements and not be prosecuted and those who make them and are prosecuted. In 2001, when Tumukunde was still Museveni�s boy, he made all kinds of statements including the one mentioned in the monitor last week where he said that (they came with guns and they still have their guns), I am wandering why he was not prosecuted then and asking my self now, what has changed, is it because his not Museveni�s boy any more or is it the law working here? Many serving officers have been commenting freely about politics but they have never been arrested. The Kakoza M. and so may other serving officers of whom some are Ministers have made political statements but no one has ever been prosecuted. For example, the army MPs in parliament recently showered that they supported the museveni government by voting with the movement, but nothing was done to them. As Tumukunde has told his bosses, he was on TV as an MP
and unless the government is saying that MPs can�t speak freely then I think they have no case but rather playing political games as usual. For God and my Country.

He was introduced to me by one very good comrade who unfortunately has passed away. Tumukunde is a human like all others, I mean subject to short comes. Just like all, he is responsible for both the good and bad deeds he commits and is a subject to the laws.
Kezio everyman is not guilty until proved by the laws in force. The question is not whether Tumukunde's arrest is justified, but the question is whether he is guilty. This is a judicial issue and is being handled in courts of laws (court martial): Therefore for this topic to carry the real meaningful sense one need to
know the laws, rules and regulations, those of which it has been alleged Tumukunde to have breached.
Can anyone including yourself Kezio come out on this board with the lists of the codes of conducts and laws governing the Military, so that it can be easy for the rest of the discussants to come out with a resourceful opinion on the Topic.

How sad it is that the Brigadier and others were so naive that they created the juggernaut that they now behold with dismay.
When you recall how that juggernaut meted "psychological torture" to Besigye and his followers, you are tempted to chuckle but you cannot given the yet to be known dimensions of how this row will play out.
One hopes that it is like the Tinyefuza
fiasco that was much ado about nothing after all. If not, who knows what lies ahead for us mortals if yesterday's minions have become enemies.
I pity Tumukunde for he propped up the president and made sure he sent Besigye to the doldrums during the president�s re-election in 2001. Recently, however, he is said to have complained about President Museveni�s apparent ingratitude when he invoked the old Luganda proverb, �Gwowonya eggere��

I've been such an ardent fan of His Excellency the President for the longest time and it saddens me to see all that's going on under his leadership in regard to the opposition. He inspired democracy in Uganda but at the rate things are going it seems like he may be the same person to bring it down. If the Brigadier sent in an
application to reitre why not let him? If it had anything to do with the ghost soldiers case, then why not go through with the court process, bail or whatever, make a decision and let the man go. And why is it that Maj. Kakooza Mutale, a solider as well can freely speak about his support for the Movement and so many others but one soldier speaks differing views and cannot? I think Uganda still has a long way to go and the little hope that I had and support for the Movement is very slowly but surely diminishing. The current government should stand up for what is right, I wouldn't mind giving you my vote one more time but only if your so-called army leadership, Movement whatever changes the way opposition is dealt with...face it like a true democratic nation that we supposedly are!

When the DIE-HARD of M7 disagree with him, they become ENEMIES and they face HUMILIATION. Tumukunde has agreed that he is going through psychological torture, I believe he recalls all the days of struggle, with maximum support to M7.
The question lies, when will the judiciary system become functional & bring Uganda�s president to face justice? �A big-case of initiating war in great-lakes�.

The offender is sat on asked to make amends. If he refuses to budge, the law book is thrown at him and he faces the music.
The Tumukunde business is very plain and very simple, but in Uganda very plain and very simple business is very hard to come by.
As we all
know now, the man, Tumukunde, is no longer keen on working in institutions that are below par. He says he sacrificed all to end the dark days of misrule. Today he barely recognises the present from the past. He wants out. But his employers think otherwise; they say he must carry on regardless. The afande was effectively being held against his will. He is now loitering in detention.
His conscience is his downfall.
Kezio, can New Vision treat you in the same manner? �Young man Kezio, we know you are unhappy working for us, you want to leave but you can�t�.� You would be very cross. In total despair you would probably jeopardise this board or attack colleagues or unmask the filth within New Vision.
You see Kezio, Goliath willingly weighing down on us the Kezio, the David�s sounds barbaric; others naturally ask why Goliath is being heavy-handed, all-controlling, not co-operative�
That cannot be justified!

It is so unfortunate that our president cannot stand divergent views. Well, that is one of the signs of a dying regime. My only worry is that Museveni will leave a legacy that will haunt him. This is the man who stood by him during the difficult times. Is this how he is supposed to be treated? History will judge Museveni and he should know that his time is Just about. I salute Brig. Tumukunde for being strong in such harsh political environment and I want to assure him that he will come out of this as a hero.
