BFD! After all, this unashamed kisanja plug was written by a co-founder (co-owner?) of allafrica.com, where it appeared  (http://allafrica.com/aai_acceptance.html).

As for peace being in sight, I guess the rest of us are just blind not to see it.

But just in case you missed it, this is your tax money (or shall we say, international debt) hard at work for publicity: "Now the government of Uganda is waging an offensive to reclaim the country's reputation as a stable, attractive place to visit and to do business."

So the piece should be labeled "Advertisement".

I may be mistaken but  the author is also a member of the "Council on Foreign Relations" (CFR), an outfit that advertises itsef, in part, as:

" ... CFR's 4,200 members mainly reflect the resources needed by the ruling class to maintain their power. Don't call them if you want to join; they call you. And don't wait for a call unless you have big money, national security expertise, CIA experience, a political constituency, or clout with the media. "

Translation:

"We are not in the business of charity. Believe it or not, there are tinpot dictators out there stupid enough to believe that we can do anything to help their "image", whatever they fancy that to be. We are happy to take their money since, they are obviously just about as simple minded as an Ankole cow to realize they'd be better off doing something about roads, stocking medicines in public hospitals, and the like."

So much for that.
