Stop these killings in Karamoja
When I talk about killings, do not think of Colombia, Darfur a Baghdad. I am talking about Karamoja.
I have lost a very good friend, Apuun Denis, gunned down by unknown assailants with illegal guns in this region.
What is happening to our honourables? Why are they wasting time exchanging barbs on kisanja, referendum, regional tier?
Please focus more on the disarmament exercise in Karamoja and how it can be speeded up other than politicking.
Illegal guns in this region are targeting mostly youth from Karamoja, and perhaps this is one of the reason s we are not developing. The gun culture has scared away investors, tourists, researchers, killing a few elites we have at a youthful age. Longole Richard just finished a Masters degree at Makerere but was gunned down, Apuun Denis, a very ambitious youthful officer and others were also gunned down.
These guns are killing the Karamojong youth more than the Aids scourge; can't we do something to stop the
killings?
