THE recruitment of members by the Uganda Peoples Congress last week registered tremendous success in Kibaale with 118 new members joining the party. The full list of members now stands at 20,042, according to party officials.
The recruitment drive was held at Kagadi Muslim Primary School in Buyaga county. It was headed by the district chairperson, Mr Sebastian Bukenya.
"UPC headed by Milton Obote is still in the minds of the majority of Ugandans. UPC was built on a foundation of equality, quity, freedom, democracy and poverty eradication to promote welfare and prosperity of Ugandans through its comprehensive social, economic and political programmes. All these have been stifled by the Movement leadership headed by Museveni," Bukenya said.

"Our health sector has few personnel who are not adequately paid, hospitals have inadequate drugs. Patients buy drugs thereby commercialising the sector. It is not surprising that the majority of poor sick Ugandans die,"Bukenya said, adding that parastatals which generated revenue and employment to have been sold to foreigners under the privatisation programme. He accused Museveni and the NRM government of attempting to cling to power.
"Museveni and the NRM lied to Ugandans that they would lead for only five years during which they would set up a foundation for democracy. But they have been extending their leadership through manipulations," he said
