Kabaka pays workers arrears
KABAKA Ronald Mutebi (above) has paid over sh200m to his workers as allowance arrears for the last six months, reports Josephine Maseruka.
The over 100 workers in the various Buganda kingdom departments were paid last week.
The money was part of sh450m that the government paid to Buganda government two weeks ago as accumulated rent arrears for occupying the former Butikkiro since 1993.
Butikkiro was the official residence of the Katikkiro and is currently housing the Uganda Joint Clinical research Centre.
It is adjacent to the Twekobe, Kabaka Mutebis uncompleted house in Mengo.
Limited funds recently forced Mengo to reduce on its staff.
