Mr. Kitufu,

Aren't Zimbabweans lucky! I mean, their president built himself a 110 room mansion at "only" US $15M.

Despot Robert Mugabe builds himself a 25-bedroom mansion for 15 million US dollars while half of the population depends on foreugn aid.

The world must not remain quiet in the face of an unprecedented act of barbarism from an aging despot who builds himself a 110-room mansion for 15 millions US dollars at the same time this is happening. Half of the starving population of Zimbabwe depends on foreign aid.

In contrast, Museveni's palace is going to cost us ten (10) times that much, at US $150M (after it could not be renovated for a measely US $70M - which was after being allocated billions per year for renovation for the last 15 years in each budget ),  not to mention several SUVs eanch at no less than $400K, a $40M jet, etc etc.

Don't you think those Zimbabweans are just cry babies? Perhaps we should just lend them some of our 'financial engineers'.

translation: before complaining about a speck in a Zimbabwe's eye, we ought remove the log in Uganda's eye. Fair enough?

Mr. Kitufu,

Yes, the international community is silent, and I feel sorry for the Zimbabweans. But the world's silence isn't at all that surprising, considering African leaders' mess, irresponsibility and welfare mentality over the past 45 years, is it? Past colonial exploitation [and a little guilt thrown in] aside, should they really keep looking after us, year after year after year, mess after mess after mess?

Africa would get more world respect and, perhaps, genuine, productive assistance if issues such as Darfur, northern Uganda and now Zimbabwe, were honestly tackled and solved by Africans through the AU, instead of their obssession with limousines, women and pomposity at their useless conferences.
