I am being trailed, claims Salaamu Musumba

THREATENED: Musumba

By Apollo Mubiru and Carol Natukunda

THE acting chairperson Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Salaam Musumba, has said she is being trailed by state security agents.

Addressing the press yesterday at FDC Villas in Najjanakumbi, Musumba accused the government of masterminding the surveillance through the Police and security agents.

“Government has had various reasons to ensure that we are in Luzira. There have been plans to poison us through our housemaids and they have tried to use our drivers to put seditious materials in our cars,” Musumba said.

“Every time I park at my gate, I expect to be shot,” she lamented.

Musumba said after the March 2004 women’s celebrations in Mpigi, the Police had a standing file on her. She said she had not reported to the Police because the institution is part of the ploy.

The Inspector general of Police, Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala, could not give a comment.

Musumba said t he referendum answer was set before the referendum question.

She reiterated her party’s stand to boycott the Thursday referendum, describing it as a sham.

She likened the referendum question to a car sticker, which reads ‘Jesus is the answer’ before asking a question.

Musumba accused the Electoral Commission of being partisan and manipulative.

FDC coordinator in Canada Dr. Muniini Mulera said it was unfair for President Yoweri Museveni and his senior officials to describe FDC members as failures.
