The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has said it will fight back in retaliation to persistent government harassment of its supporters.

The FDC Spokesman, Mr Wafula Oguttu, on Monday challenged the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs to clearly tell the country when parties will be allowed to carry out their mobilisation work without intimidation from government agents.

Oguttu was on Monday speaking at FDC's weekly press conference at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
He said FDC had been provoked to the limit and would be impelled to retaliate.

He did not say how they plan to fight back.
Oguttu cited an incident in Gulu on August 6, when a gang of 50 people beat up FDC officials including Kilak County MP Mr Michael Ochula, FDC interim chairman for Gulu Mr Paul Okwera and head of mobilisation in the district Mr Chris Achire.
Oguttu said they were attacked at the FDC office during a planning meeting for the launch of the party in the area.

“We know that these agents are deliberately sent to provoke FDC into violence so that FDC is formally targeted as a trouble maker and our leaders thrown into jail. But let it be known that time comes when the oppressed are forced to defend themselves,” he said.
