Museveni appoints new ambassadors

KAMPALA 
PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni yesterday made changes at
Uganda’s diplomatic missions abroad, transferring 12
ambassadors including the long serving Edith Ssempala
from USA to Ethiopia.

He made a surprise nomination of Princes Elizabeth
Bagaya, former ambassador during Idi Amin’s regime and
former Electoral Commission chairman, Hajji Aziz
Kasujja pending approval by Parliament for diplomatic
posting.

In a statement signed by his Principal Private
Secretary, Ms Amelia Kyambadde, President Museveni
quoted the powers conferred upon him by Article 122
(1) of the Constitution to make the changes in the
diplomatic missions.

Mr Adonia Ayebare, formerly in Rwanda and Burundi, has
been transferred to the USA as a deputy ambassador,
while Ms Joan Rwabyomere, has been transferred to
United Kingdom from Nigeria. No ambassador has been
posted to replace Ayebare in Kigali.
