ABOUT 50 religious, cultural, opinion and political leaders from the four sub-regions of Acholi, Lango, Teso and West Nile have been invited by their counterparts in southern Sudan for a three-day cross-border peace meeting.
Leaders from West Nile, Teso and Lango sub regions arrived in Gulu on Tuesday and underwent orientation at St. Monica Girls' Tailoring School in Gulu before leaving for Nimule in southern Sudan on Wednesday.
The chairman of Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative, archbishop John Baptist Odama, said on Tuesday that they had been invited for the meeting at Nimule, adding that for the last three years, such peace meetings were being held in Uganda.
"For the last three years, we were hosting our counterparts from Sudan because it was conducive for them to come here," he said.
