      La froideur du Pere GUY THEUNIS face a cette situation me laisse personellement croire ko afite un certain role dans le GENOCIDE DES BATUTSIS au RWANDA.Mais je laisse les soins aux institutions GACACA de le determiner.

Guy Theunis (Pictured), a Belgian Catholic, priest was arrested at Kigali International Airport, for allegedly participating in the 1994 Genocide. Guy, who worked as a missionary in Rwanda from 1970 until 1994, was arrested Tuesday en route from the Democratic Republic of Congo, heading for Belgium.  According to Prosecutor Emmanuel Rukangira, Fr. Theunis had incited Rwandans to commit genocide by re-publishing articles from the extremist publication, Kangura, in his Dialogue Magazine. The former Editor of Kangura Hassan Ngeze was sentenced to life in prison by the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), the court set up to try those responsible for the Genocide. Rukangira told The New Times that although Father Theunis does not feature on the initial category of genocide masterminds, he will be taken to face the Gacaca village court of Nyarugenge Sector in Kigali City Center, where his category would be established depending on the gravity of his alleged crimes. He however said that given the nature of the alleged crimes, Theunis is likely to fall in the category of the masterminds, adding: “and should that happen he will be tried in the classic courts.” The BBC quoted Belgium’s Foreign Minister Karel de Gucht as having e xpressed ‘astonishment’ at Theunis’ arrest, and that he had asked for an explanation from Rwanda. His Rwandan counterpart Dr. Charles Murigande confirmed receipt of the letter from the Belgian government. “Yes, we have received the letter and will definitely respond to it soon,” Murigande said on phone Thursday. Several Rwandan priests and nuns have been accused and convicted of participating in the killing of over a million Tutsis and moderate Hutus during the Genocide. Some members of the Catholic hierarchy in Rwanda allegedly had close ties to extremist politicians and aided Hutu militias in the run-up to the 1994 killings and, thousands of Tutsis were slaughtered after seeking sanctuary in churches. In 2001, a Brussels court convicted two Rwandan Catholic nuns for their roles in the Genocide.
