Missionary Killed in Africa
ROME, Sept. 12 (Reuters) - An Italian missionary was hacked to death by villagers in the Congo Republic on Monday after a car accident in which the vehicle he was driving hit and killed a 3-year-old girl, the Catholic news agency Misna said.
The missionary, Angelo Redaelli, 40, was driving with eight priests and nuns through a village about 500 miles north of the capital, Brazzaville, when his off-road vehicle hit the child, who died immediately.
Angry villagers attacked him with machetes while his passengers fled to the house of the Catholic bishop in Owando, Misna said.
