For the record UNAA is a charitable organization in
North America and I want you to take the time and study the laws regarding the
charitable status in North America for if you read them you will understand how
they are funded.
Second point, you can take that explanation any way
you want it until when you will see people like Mulera who have been members of
the UNAA administration, standing infront of the Canadian Immigration refugee
board and informing them of how Uganda is a safe place today that has no reason
what ever for Ugandans to ask for refugee status in Canada. And in cases
Ugandans were denied refugee status.
This leadership is meeting the president and making
decisions, let me ask you if I have a family in Toronto that needs to be backed
up on immigration issues would Abdul Kimbugwe stand in the refugee board and
back that family on basis that Uganda has an autocratic government? Suppose a
Northerner is elected to lead that organization, will he take the convention to
Uganda or meet the president? Or this is yet another Baganda fracas? Societies
that have managed to settle here as the Jews and Chinese have powerful
organizations that are backing them, and that is the spirit Ugandans had in
starting this organization. It never passed in their mind that let us create an
organization which will have conferences with sitting presidents. That is why
provincial and federal governments will never fund a convention which will sit
in Uganda. Because if you are comfortable to go in your country and have a
conference you have no reason to be a refugee and The Canadian/American society
has no reason to finance your convention and you do not deserve a charitable
firkin number. Am I talking to my own shadow here?
Nixon we have today so far almost 16 children in
North American jails, 6 on murder charges. Can Abdul Kimbugwe tell me when the
last Ugandan in Toronto appeared in court last? That is what I want to hear
from a President of the largest Ugandan organization. Not some hullabaloo
about meeting a failed president.
So cut the Bull Crap !!!!!

Eddie,
I think you just
asked the dumbest question I ever heard and you know the clarification to your
own question even answered in the thread below. UNAA is a
socio-hopefully-economic means for Ugandans (including you) in North America
to get together and make something out of our stay herelike voting by
proxy.
I dont know what you
mean by different funding government levels of UNAA as a charitable
organization (please clarify).
A meeting between the
representative of Ugandans in North America and the current President of
Uganda has nothing to do with the few honorable organizations that do business
with the growing Ugandan community in North America and that companys
interest in peddling their trade within our community.

Does the different funding
government levels of UNAA as a charitable organization, know that it is an
organization comfortable with Uganda government to the extent of meeting the
President? Secondly if Konny becomes a next Uganda leader will the
leadership of UNAA meet him too?
Just looking for clarifications
here.

Dr. Muleera and all UNAA
members,
I pray that you are all fine. I regret my less
participation in many discusions on this forum due to other engagements
and the amount or frequence of messages posted every minute. I however
felt it imparative to address the missive posted afew minutes ago. This
has not been a been a secret of any sort and had the information I earlier
diseminated to the Board members this morning been correctly related
to Muniini, he would have had a better idea of the whole scenario.
Before I paste my response to Hon Mujungu earlier
in the morning, I would like to avail my view as
such:
- We are meeting Mr. Museveni as a head of state
and not as a political party leader (though he is) who deserves his due
respect in his capacity as Uganda's leader.
- I initiated the
meeting to embark on issues I promised in my campaign manifesto. So we are
not summoned as wrongly stated here.
- I am paying for my
travel expences as I have done on other accasions, and no one else or
organization is.
- I have in the
last three years, met with Mr. Museveni, Hon
Mugisha Muntu, Mr. Mohammed Mayanja Kibirige, Hon Norbert
Mao and a few others. At any given opportunity, I will meet with them
and others when and where time and resources permit without having bias of
their political backgrounds.
Here is my communication to the board this morning
in response to Mr. Mujungu's
questions:
Dear Hon. Canadian rep. MJ
I am glad you are doing fine. Surely you need that
T-Shirt now that you are fighting the cold by going to the work-out house
(do you call it a gym?). But you can get it when you visit Boston soon,
right?
You indeed
asked good questions which I would have prevented had I attached my
proposed Agenda bellow. The meeting idea was mine but readily
accepted by the president and is being planned by the Embassy.
No, we are not being facilitated by anyone. We are on our own in all ways
or means. And the meeting starts at 3.30 pm to 4:00pm. I still need to
confirm with the venue.
The
items I would wish we discuss with the President should be as a
apolitical as possible and in the interest of our electorate. Here
are my proposed areas and anyone may add as you may so wish:
-
We are very thankful for your support and eventual fulfillment of your
pledge to work with parliament in granting Dual Citizenship.
This is going to facilitate our full commitment to the development of our
country.
-
We would like to help economically and otherwise in the civilian suffering
of the people of Northern Uganda. How can we partner with government to
solve the Northern Uganda mayhem and eradicate poverty in the sub region?
-
We have acquired a container of medical equipment that we would like to
donate Jinja Hospital, and another of text books that can be donated to
any schools or libraries. Can government facilitate in partly transporting
and exempting them from taxes and other dues?
-
How can government advise us on our bid to eligibility for proxy voting
and representation in policy decision making?
-
It is very good that government has formalized exportation of Ugandan
labor, however, we believe that efforts should be put first in
regularization of the workforce already in the western economies, and then
add more people with a clear bilateral arrangement.
