Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)
vice-chairperson for Buganda region Prince Vincent Kimera (right) has
died.
Beti Kamya, the special envoy in the office of the FDC
president, said Kimera died in a South Africa hospital yesterday morning.
The FDC leadership is very saddened by the untimely death of
Kimera when his industry and resources are highly needed during this
difficult time in the history of our country, she said, without giving
further details.
FDC national chairman Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu
described Kimera as a devoted colleague who was determined to root out
dictatorship in Uganda.
He was a very good colleague who was very
clear about the needs of Ugandans. He was a very staunch supporter of (FDC
leader Col. Kizza) Besigye and was determined to have a better Uganda. The
outcome of the results may have shocked him just as it did to many of us
who knew we had a great victory, Kiggundu said.
Sam Njuba, the
FDC vice-president, described Kimera as a staunch Catholic and a committed
person. It is a big loss to Ugandans, he said. He had a mixed career and
was once involved in the liberation struggle as an active member of the
Uganda Freedom Movement led by Andrew Kayira.
