Action for Development - ACFODE one of the local NGOs that monitored last week’s presidential and parliamentary elections say the elections were not free and fair.

The Executive Director (ACFODE) Francis Linda Nakakande Lwanga has told a news conference that the elections were marred by malpractices like multiple voting in some army barracks, and intimidation of voters especially women.

Nakakande adds that some voters especially the women were threatened that a war would erupt if they did not vote for President Museveni.

ACFODE has recomme nded that the Electoral Commission should start sensitizing the public on electoral matters early enough and not wait for election time.

ACFODE monitored elections in the districts of Rukungiri, Tororo, Kiboga, Masaka, Lira, Soroti, Pallisa and Mbarara districts.
