THE co-founders of Gulu Walk, Adrian Bradbury and Kieran Hayward, have described the situation in the IDPs as incredible.
Speaking during prayers with internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Pagak in Gulu over the we
ekend,
Bradbury said, "The Acholi living in camps are being treated like animals encamped in a zoo. No one should have to live like that.
"This is an unacceptable crisis that must be addressed by the Government." The prayers were led by Vicar General of Gulu Archdiocese, Monsignor Matthew Odong.
Bradbury said many people abroad knew little about the LRA civil war and its effects on the Acholi.
He said the Gulu-Walk based in Toronto was started to voice the problems of the people in the camps in northern Uganda in Canada and the world.
They said they had disbursed US$40,000 (over sh70m) to help displaced persons. "How many people should die before the government and the international community do something to end this crisis? Nearly 1,500 people die weekly in the camps," Bradbury said.
The Gulu-Walk team, comprising two co-founder members a
nd
volunteers Andrea Mc-Kinlay and Colin Hayward, arrived in Gulu on Saturday, on a fact-finding mission in the camps.
