Program focuses on children in Uganda's war
The plight of the children of northern Uganda, who are pawns in a brutal civil war, will be the topic of an educational program tomorrow night in North Philadelphia.
The forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Honickman Learning Center, 1936 N. Judson St. It is sponsored by Project HOME, a nonprofit antipoverty organization. Scheduled to speak are Elaine Garfinkle, organizer of the Long Walk to Bed, a humanitarian initiative on behalf of Ugandan children; Carolyn Davis, a member of The Inquirer's editorial board who has written extensively on the crisis; and Abitimo Rebecca Odongkara, who runs a school serving 1,500 children in Gulu, Uganda.
