THE Forum for Democratic Change party has said security operatives passing off as aggrieved party supporters are contacting the party leadership claiming they are ready to join an armed rebellion against President Yoweri Museveni's government.

FDC Vice President Ms Salaamu Musumba told a weekly party press briefing at Najjanankumbi yesterday that the acts of these security personnel were intended to implicate the party leadership in acts of treason.

"We are therefore angry when we hear that some ISO and CMI agents perhaps on orders of the President are trying to set up dummy rebel recruiting teams in villages as bait to arrest our supporters and eventually put out of action our top leaders on allegations of engaging in imaginary rebel activities," Musumba said.

The latest FDC claims come at a time when the party President Dr Kizza Besigye and 22 others are facing charges of treason and concealment of treason in the High Court .
Musumba warned party supporters to shun anybody who attempts to interest them in an armed rebellion.

"We advise all our supporters that FDC has no plans for engaging in armed rebellion," Musumba said.

"Those who are talking of recruitment for the bush are state agents."
However, the Minister of State for Information, Dr James Nsaba Buturo, dismissed FDC's claims and said the allegations could be confirming FDC's interests in an armed rebellion.
"That's not true, this government cannot do such a thing. FDC is heightening tension and may be saying things they are preparing to do," Butoro said.

Salaamu and Mr Wafula Oguttu, the FDC Spokesman gave their testimonies on how they had been contacted by suspected state agents to lure them into an armed rebellion.
"People claiming to be my supporters from Kamuli called me saying they were about 100 seeking to be connected to Muntu about the party's plan 'B'," Musumba who is also Bugabula South MP said.

Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu is FDC's Secretary for Mobilisation.
Oguttu also said he received anonymous calls from Bugiri on the same matter.

Salaamu and Oguttu issued a list of telephone numbers on which the alleged state agents have been using to call: Nyeko- 000447950335119, 000442089977078, 000442079500007, +254733487013. Others are Bruno Nyeko- 0782975228, James-0782274419, Opabwari -0782758211, and Patrick- 0772537005.
Daily Monitor contacted some of the owners who confessed knowledge of the rebels recruitment drive.

Patrick told Daily Monitor that he could not discuss the details of the recruitment but invited this reporter to find him in Mbarara.

This reporter camouflaged as an FDC member who wanted to get recruited.
Bruno Nyeko on 0782975228 told this reporter that he was in Gulu. He advised the reporter to contact one Ben in London on +442089977. The nine digits correspond with one of the numbers given by the FDC. Nyeko said Ben was the one in charge of the recruitment.
