The Ugandan Catholic Archbishop for Gulu diocese John Baptist Odama on Wednesday briefed the German parliamentary committee for economic cooperation and development on the situation in northern Uganda.
He was invited to update the parliament on the conflict between the rebels of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) led by Joseph Kony and the Uganda government.
The parliamentary committee session chaired by Thilo Hoppe was called for as urgent action to put pressure on the government of Uganda to end the conflict and close internally displaced persons' camps .
The German foreign affairs committee on human rights and humanitarian aid wanted to have a clear picture of the fate of the child soldiers before tabling a motion for a resolution to end the conflict.
Odama welcomed the initiative to involve Uganda's neighbouring governments in solving the conflict as a road map to end the war.

"Recent steps taken by the Ugandan government to resettle the internally displaced persons into new homes should be voluntarily and not by use of force.
The local communities should be involved and efforts should be made to demilitarise this region that has seen violence for over 20 years. Demobilisation of the child soldiers should be a priority to help rehabilitate victims of the LRA terror," he said.
The MPs expressed concern over the spread of Kony's activities to the DR Congo.
