We are counting days [2!] to our 2nd BUGANDA DAY Celebrations to be held this SUNDAY, MAY 28, 2006 starting at 5:00 PM till 1:00 AM, at
 
PLACE:     The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
                    1305 East-West Highway
                    Silver Spring, MD. 20910
                
DATE:        SUNDAY, MAY 28, 2006
TIME:        5:00 PM - 1:00 AM
Attire:        Formal Traditional Attire (Kanzu for gentlemen; Busuuti for Ladies). (Please get out those Kanzus and Busuutis and make sure they still fit! If you don't have one, make sure you get one; borrow one if you have to!) But if you absolutely can't get or wear one, that's OK; Any traditional attire will do or just dress appropriately and COME TO LEARN AND HAVE FUN!!

                              YOUTH (10 - 20 years):    $ 10.00
                              CHILDREN (Under 10):    FREE

For the celebrations, we have lined up a rich, educational and entertaining program including:
  1. A Luganda play: TEBASOBOKE by DUNSTAN MUBIRU. This is a play one should not miss. Comedian Mubiru is in a class of his own. He is a one man actor; playing different characters. In Tebasoboke, he portrays a Makerere graduate "Tebasoboke" who can't get a real job. He eventually  plans  getting to America.
    The drama between the way Tebasoboke gets a visa up to securing an airline ticket .. landing in a dream country thinking money is picked  from the streets only to
    find different....eventually engaging in getting quick money and paying a price for it .. Well you need to have a box of Kleenex! He is funny and there is a lot to learn: Cultures colliding with politics. Don't miss out; this is a MUST SEE!
  2. A parade of  "Ebika Bya Baganda" (Baganda clans) - Come learn your ancestry and the ancestry of friends and families [Knowing your Roots MATTERS!]
  3. An informative discussion "Mbozi" about How the traditions of Bulungi Bwansi developed Buganda - Come hear Elder Kasozi narrate the traditions and more ...
  4. Culture, traditions, music, dance and educational trivia
  5. Luganda Academy Activities including the upcoming Summer Camp
  6. DJ Mondy with his latest spins
