Yes,

Rusesabagina is sending confused and hurtful
messages...and he is destroying the chance
for peace in Rwanda. And the Americans are
using him for their own ends. I have yet to
see a Tutsi genocide survivor receive a
medal from Bush...but who needs Bush medal,
the man is practically a Nazi...and he has
killed innocent Iraqis. May rusesa the
Humanitarian can say something in protest
to the Bush atrocities huh...what kind of
humanitarian gets a meda from Bush the
warmonger who stated in public that if
there was another genocide in Rwanda he
would not intervene to save lives (during
the debate with Al Gore). Rusesa, you should
pick your US friends more carefully.

What is even more baffling about Rusesa's
website is that the message on it is at
complete variance from the messages of his
lectures.

I am talking specifically about two issues.

First, on his website he says he is a
humanitarian...and yet in his lectures he
defends men like Bagosora and others who
are definately not humanitarians. What kind
of humanitarianism defends killers, excuses
genociders, and makes the case for murdering
Tutsis in 1959?

I think that he has to dissociate himself
from the genocidaires, and he must stop
trying to justify and rationalise the
violence they committed against, not just
Tutsis, but Hutus as well. You can't be a
humanitarian if you find reasons to defend
killers on grounds that they were provoked,
or that they didn't do only bad things on
every single day...it shows naivite of the
worst kind on Rusesa's part...perhaps after
all he is truly only a hotelier, not a
humanitarian, let alone a person who
actually cares for people. Perhasp he cares
only for himself...everyone he saved was
just incidental to that algorithm. But i
was not in the Hotel...he'll answer to his
creator about what really happened.

Secondly, on his website Rusesa acknowledges
that there is a "cycle of violence" in the
"troubled region" - meaning the GLR I suppose -
but at the same time he is interested in
starting a war against Rwanda. As far as I
know he has never suggested an alternative
means of resolving the shortcomings of the
Kagame regime...all he is doing is building
up a case for war aginst Kagame, in which
he (Rusesa) is going to be the leader of
Rwanda (the trips to the White House are
probably meant to bolster his presidential
aspirations).

Assuming that Rusesa can go to war without
triggering another genocide that will
completely erase Africa from the map of
the moral universe, what are his plans for
making Rwanda a better place...as far as I
can tell he would start by releasing people
who have been found guilty by the court in
Arusha. If am I wrong about this...Rusesa
is on this forum and he can defend himself.
So let him disprove my contention.

Other than complaining about Rwanda, what
plan does Rusesa have to resolve the issues
he sees as a problem? I haven't heard any.

In any event, what has Rusesabagina done to
try and break the cycle of violence in Africa?
Instead he has been building the case for
violence...indicting Tutsi's collectively
for allegedly being "allies" of the Belgians,
a bizarre interpretation of Rwanda's past...
but that's Rusesa's version.

In my understanding of Rusesa, I have come to
conclude that he feels under pressure by some
neocolonialists who feel that the Hutu
community, and the West, have been
collectively indicted for genocide...and he is
part of a campaign to redeem their guilt.

There is now a conspiracy of hot-headed
warmongers in the dark corners whispering
invectives and busy trying to make the case
that Hutus (and French/Belgians) are now
oppressed, by history and by Tutsis, and that
Rusesa must now be the new face of the
Hutu-power...in otherwords, we are back to the
old colonial divide and rule agenda ...and
Rusesa is the unwitting (or perhaps witting)
human (humanitarian) face and leader of all
this nonsense.

Now the way to go about addressing the
matter of Hutu Ethnic Shame (which was the
creating of colonilianists, ot the Rwandan
monarchy) is not by denying that genocide
happened, nor by claiming that in the same
breath that two genocides happened and that
therefore the guilt is to be shared, or
whatever other construct is floating out there;
nor is the way to go by attempting to defend
Bagosora and other psychos like him; nor in
fact is it right to spend time trying to
prove that Tutsis are also as guilty as Hutus...
these pathological approaches are inherently
flawed and are not coming from a moral source,
and what's more, pursuing them to the logical
end makes one a genocidaire, plain and simple...

Rusesabagina is in danger of incriminating
himself as a genocidaire unless he can stop
defending the indefensible. How can you be
a humanitarian when every one of your public
speeches includes attacks against the court
in Arusha...where you claim that the Hutu
generals were good to you, and so therefore
they should be excused for their "lapses"
however deluded and murderous? Is that what
you, Rusesabagina, really want.

What Rusesa has to do...is to stop trying
to milk the Hutu Ethnic Shame issue and
leave it alone, or find a more constructive
means of healing the nation (see how the
Dalai Lama, or Mohandes Ghandi, or MLK
wnet about that). The matter of ethnic
shame will resolve itself in due course as
Pan Africanists become better organised.

Naivite, if that what Rusesa is suffering
from, in the context of genocide, is totally
inexcusable...after all Rusesabagina is not
a child. As of today I have never heard
Rusesabagina defending Tutsi heritage...or
even giving a position in which Hutu and Tutsi
had a common past of peace and mutual respect.

All I here is him reharshing the same old
colonial lies, the same ones that are used
by the colonial and neocolonial regimes to
destroy African unity. How on earth does
he expect these invectives and underhanded
insinuations to end violence? How can you
be a humanitarian when all you do is preach
revenge? And for what? What do you expect
to happen if you succeed in you quest for
vengeance?
