Dramatic exit of genocide propaganda architect William Pike 'Goering'

In Hitlers Germany , propaganda was invariably a factor in preparing and conducting acts of aggression and in training the German populace to accept obediently the criminal enterprises of
Nazi German fascism.
If recent developments in the Uganda politics and media sphere are to go by, particularly the sacking of the Briton William Pike and his replacement by the Museveni sycophant, Robert Mukhooli Kabushenga, then Ugandans, with their Musevenis Third Term Life Presidency Canja Project, are steadily walking in the path of Nazi German Third Reich national disaster and shame. Using historical analytical tools, for the first time in 25 years, Aswa Times media analyst looks closely at this British expatriate who has played an instrumental in the Museveni genocide project in northern Uganda.
Experts of fascism and repression tell us that the aims of fascist enterprises
are served by huge and well centralised propaganda machinery. With the help of the police controls and of a system of censorship it enables them to easily do away altogether with the societal watch dog, the freedom of the press and of speech.
The Fuhrer Field Marshal Hail Adolf Hitlers The Third Reich is often used as the best example of fascist methods of repression in modern times. And Nazi Germanys most successful tool was the use of deception and propaganda. Their basic method lay in the false presentation of facts. This is stated quite frankly in Hitler's " Mein Kampf"; " With the help of a skilful and continuous application of propaganda it is possible to
make the people conceive even of heaven as hell and also make them consider heavenly the most miserly existence."; (US-276. D. 302.)
The dissemination of provocative lies and the systematic deception of public opinion were as necessary to the Hitlerites for the realisation of their plans as were the production of armaments and the drafting of military plans. Without propaganda, founded on the total eclipse of the freedom of press and of speech, it would not have been possible for German Fascism to realise its aggressive intentions, to lay the groundwork and then to put to practice the war crimes and the crimes against humanity.

In the realisation of this project, the propaganda system utilised the daily press and the radio, which became the most important weapons. To this end, Hitler owed his success to only two men, Herman Goering and Josef Goebbels.
In his Holocaust Nuremburg Court testimony, defendant Goering named three factors as essential in the successful conduct of modern war according to the Nazi concept, namely, (l) the military operations of the armed forces, (2) economic warfare, (3) propaganda. With reference to the latter he said: "Propaganda has tremendous value, particularly propaganda carried by means of newspaper and radio.... Germany has learned this through experience better than anyone else". (English Transcript, pp. 5981-5982.)
With such concepts in ascendance it is impossible to suppose that the supreme rulers of the Third Reich would appoint to the post of Director of Media and Radio Propaganda, to supervise print media and radio activity of all the broadcasting companies and directed their propagandistic content, a man they
considered a secondary figure and a person with questionable loyalty.
The point of view of the verdict contradicts both the evidence submitted and the actual state of affairs. To understand how this strategy worked one has to look at the context of the events in Germany then, a nation torn apart due to economic failure, corruption and poor politics; a nation in upheaval.
Not everyone who joined Hitler's movement on its way to power accepted at first this renunciation of ideology for the sake of power. As always in times of upheavals, the widest variety of indictments and recipes for salvation were put forward and the mass party, as it grew, swallowed them all unselectively, planning
gradually to neutralize them ideologically and subordinate them to the purpose of achieving naked power for a small, resolute elite. At the beginning of their careers this type always longed, more or less articulately, to change existing conditions according to a preconceived ideological plan. Certainly they wanted to conquer and rule Germany, but they also wanted to bring her new codes of law, to 'redeem' her, however vague and confused their schemes for doing so may have been. They saw violence and struggle, fundamentally, as only the means to carry out this ideological re-education; they abhorred bloodshed, though they did not of course shrink back 'from the graves' at the crunch, when the revolutionary 'cause' was at stake. They were radical, but their radicalism had a definable goal. Hitler, however, soon gave them the choice: either be pushed into the group ironically referred to within this self-seeking Machiavellian community as the 'serious-minded', the 'bigots',
or take the plunge with an opportunist about-face and become true fascists, supporters of the principle of struggle and power with only relatively binding ideological premises.
Ugandas sleeping politicians and their cowed electorate, seem not to be aware that the same situation as in Germany of the 1930s has been playing itself in our dear country for the last 20 years, culminating in the mid-October sacking of the chief architect and strategist of the Museveni NRA bush war mayhem propaganda and the man responsible for neutralising opposition ideology against fascism and repression. If promoting war and human tragedy is not enough reason for Ugandans to remember, the once unemployed young Briton who came to make a fortune in the bushes of Luwero by selling lies, history will be less generous to him by recording him as the
Briton Chief Executive Officer of a fascist African government owned newspaper, the New Vision, who carefully scripted narratives concealing and denying Musevenis genocide project in Northern Uganda, Rwanda, DR Congo, Congo Brazzaville and Southern Sudan. He used his British origin and connection to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) to dope the international community of Musevenis blood stained reign of terror in the Great Lakes Region.

Pikes role in helping Museveni shoot his way to power and exercise his fascist repression can only be compared to that of Herman Goering who made Hitler the Fuhrer of Germany and used the media to rally the Germans to accept fascism, repression and aggression. But like Goering, William Pike, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the New Vision Printing and Publishing Company, was sacked in a twist of fate by his boss President Yoweri Museveni and replaced by his long time rival Robert Kabushenga alias Goebbels.

Mr William Pike, the unemployed young Briton, suffering poverty on the streets of London took the risk of ending his misery by visiting Luwero Triangle to find a story to sell to the British media. Following his visit, he made his first breakthrough when the BBC contracted him as a free-lance reporter and found his way to Luwero with the NRA. After a carefully designed deceptive media propaganda, he won for the NRA/M the much needed Western sympathy. NRA went on to abrogate the Nairobi Peace Agreement and capture power. Pike was the
man to do the unenviable role of washing of Musevenis dirty linen of the leftwing communist terrorist and murderer. He turned Museveni from the villain of Luwero to the Wests Blue Eye Boy until the cosmetic propaganda began to wear thin.
For the people of northern Uganda and the Acholi in particular, Mr Pikes New Vision will remain arguably the most anti-Acholi newspaper published under the fascist Museveni regime. Extremely propagandist in his style, he goes down in the annals of Uganda history as the British Mercenary journalist who played a major role in conveying the hateful imagery of the northern killers but particularly Acholi to millions of readers across the globe.
Through his words and his deeds William Pike assumed for himself the unofficial title of Acholi-baiter Number One in Musevenis Uganda. For the course of some twenty five years, Pike educated the Uganda people in hatred and incited them to the persecution and to the extermination of the northern race. He remains an accessory and accomplice to genocide project, unique in history and on a scale perhaps never attained before.

The genocidal hate propaganda which Pike carried out throughout those years was chiefly done through the medium of his report to the BBC and on walking into the capital Kampala on the 25 January 1986, he was rewarded for his good work by appointment as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the government mouth piece, the New Vision. To consolidate his position and favour, he set it upon himself to castigate, incite, contempt and spread malicious hatred against northerners, particularly the Acholi, in
continuation of his bush war propaganda. New Vision became the mouthpiece of NRM/NRA regime in a manner to what PRAVDA was to the Soviet Union and Mr. Pikes fortune skyrocketed.
During the Luwero war, in 1984, the NRA contacted the unemployed media reporter trained Briton, William Pike. He had no more connections than a telephone line and was most of the time broke. He enlisted himself as a mercenary journalist to NRM. NRM cut a deal with Mr. Pike to run their propaganda in the world media. He was willing to do anything for money. He successfully used his journalistic skill to fabricate favourable reports, including filming potato moulds (heaps) as mass graves, for the NRA, galvanizing tremendous sympathy for Museveni and his men.
We saw a parallel in later years when RPF invaded Rwanda, killing people by the hundreds in the northern part of the country. Alison DeForge, Catherine Watson (lover), Colette Brackman, Richard Dowden, Linsey Linsom and Roger Winters were the most notorious propagandists for RPF, fabricating favourable stories and covering up RPFs war crimes and crimes against humanity. Alison DeForge in particular crisscrossed the English speaking world spreading RPFs mendacious flatteries.
It is important to recall that the bulk (80% to 90%) of the fighting force which toppled the Okellos regime were Baganda. By the time of capturing Kampala and taking over
the reign of power, most Baganda fighters of officer material had been killed in mysterious circumstances, by Musevenis Crack Unit (assassination squad). Hence, the control of the NRA was in the hands of Musevenis Tutsi men. He further purged the skewed number of Baganda in the military by dismissing hundreds of them in order to create room for other tribesmen. This raised a lot of disquiet in Buganda including some rebellion, but the man to prepare the Baganda to accept Musevenis purge and reject Baganda rebel was none other than William Pike and his skilful use of the media. While that move gave him temporary political credit, the actual results were different. Instead, he recruited thousands of young people from Ankole and Kigezi areas to the total exclusion of the entire northern region plus other areas of the country.

The course of Pikes incitement and propaganda may be traced more or less in chronological order by referring to how news reporting was centred on shielding the atrocities the NRA/UPDF
committed against the people of northern Uganda. Most of the articles published were employed to incite Ugandans from the South and West against the northerners, but particularly the Acholi race, his newspaper is crowded with revisionism and inciteful articles, week after week, day after day. It is impossible to pick up any copy without finding the same kind of invective and incitement in the headlines and in the articles. To broaden the international demonisation scheme of the Acholi people, he contracted as New Vision consultant the wife of the Belgian Vlamse Block European Parliamentarian, Van Hecke, one Els De Temmerman to organise and draw up revisionism propaganda against the genocide in northern Uganda [genocide abetter, New Vision Editor-in-Chief David Ssepuuya has been forced to resign on Thursday 26.10.2006 to give way for Els De Temmerman - Ed].
Another form of propaganda employed by William Pike concerned the Ritual display of UPDF trophies, dead Acholi sons and daughters. Pike based his ritual murder propaganda coverage on his masters ideology that these horrific scenes needed to be seen in order to deter disobedience. He misrepresented facts to appear that not only were the northerners killers, but that the Acholi in particular having been stopped from looting the South of its wealth, were now busy killing themselves.
This British trained journalist paid particular attention in shielding his masters destruction and perversion of children and youth of northern Uganda, when
he armed them with bows, arrows, pangas and sticks; and sent them into the battlefield to fight the well armed rebel groups. He was not content with inciting the Ugandan population. He started to poison the minds of the children at school at the earliest possible date.

His
praise singers such as Muller John Nagenda may also deny his involvement in the commission of the war crimes and crimes against humanity and genocide in Northern Uganda, Rwanda, DR Congo and Southern Sudan, but his crime is no less worse for that reason. No government in the Uganda, before the NRM came to power, could have embarked upon a policy of mass northern extermination in the way in which they did, without having a people who would back them and support them, and without having a large number of people who were prepared to carry out the murder themselves.
It was to the task of educating and poisoning the people with hate, and of complimenting murderous generals, that Pike set himself. For 25 years he continued unrelentingly the perversion of the people and youth of northern Uganda. He went on and on, as he saw the
results of his work bearing fruit. Thanks to William Pike, Uganda is now a nation divided into two, Musevenis peaceful and progressive South and the Primitive devastated North.
In the early days through his well scripted media campaigns, he preached persecution. As persecution took place he preached extermination and annihilation and, as thousands of northerners were exterminated and annihilated, in the villages, fields, river banks, wells, schools, churches and subsequently concentration camps, he cried out for more and more by not only revising the facts and blaming the victims, but by contracting western journalists and media houses to spread the same propaganda and marshal conspiracy of silence amongst the international community!

William Pikes hand is equally tainted with blood as those of Museveni and Kony. His crime is that he made these crimes possible, which could have been brought to an end much earlier had it not been for him and his local and international accomplices. Without Pike and his propaganda, Yoweri Museveni and his murderous NRA/UPDF generals would have had nobody to do their dirty work of shielding their deeds. In this role, Pike has the innocent blood of the children and people of the Great Lakes Region, particularly Acholiland dripping on his hands, making himself a true replication of Herman Goering of Nazi Germany; history should judge him with the same standards and no less! His crime is greater and far-reaching than that of any of the other conspirators. The effects of this mans crime, of the poison that he has put into the minds of millions of young boys and girls go on, for he concentrated upon
the youth and childhood of Uganda. He leaves behind him a legacy of almost a whole people poisoned with hate, sadism, and murder, and perverted by him. A population who remain a problem and perhaps a menace to the rest of civilization for generations to come. Thanks to the revolution that has now also eaten its own children. The blood of the innocent people who have died should not let William Pike age and rest in peace! He allowed Museveni to use him to whitewash the NRA/M crimes and the NRM regimes, perhaps its now time for him in order to repent and be forgiven, like the indicted LRA leaders, he has to tell the truth and Mato Oput with the people of Northern Uganda.
