Confirmed Panel will include
Attorney Kelly Pexton.
From 1986 to 1988 he served for the Mormon Church in the Mexican States of
Veracruz, Puebla, Oaxaca, and Chiapas. From the beginning of his legal
Education, he has used his Spanish fluency to actively address US Immigrant
Rights for immigrants from Latin America and served throughout law school as
A volunteer for United Way.
Pexton wrote a weekly column for a San Diego Spanish newspaper and was also
Featured on several Spanish radio stations in the San Diego area addressing
Immigration topics. During the summer of 1996, Pexton was a weekly guest on
A TV program in Tijuana where he explained various aspects of US Immigration
Laws to the station's Mexican and California audiences.
In 1996, Pexton accepted an offer from the Federal Bureau of Investigation
Where he served in the San Diego Division of the FBI that investigated
Violations of federal law pertaining to border and immigration issues. As
An immigration Attorney, Pexton continues to assist individuals in receiving
Legal permanent residence status in the US.
James Ssemakula
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology & Botany at Makerere
University, and a Master of Science degree in Statistics with a minor in
demography at Texas A&M University.
Prior to assuming his present duties, he worked as an ecologist for the New
York Zoological Society in Kenya, a statistical computing consultant for Texas
A&M University, and the University of California, Riverside. He has also worked
in the pharmaceutical industry, and is an active member of the Ugandan
community in Southern California.
