war since ancient times has always been about resources or lack thereof to
certain groups. We all know there is land pressure as a result of over
population In western Uganda. Given that there has been NO major war in Western
Uganda, there is an overpopulation in that area. Thus if it were possible
..and given the chance , tutisi in cohorts with Indians would love to "buy"
land in other part of Uganda for their exclusive use..The politics of land is
about to hit the ceiling, so to say.
Now with regards to this Teso/Karamojong issue. One needs a cool head to
address the issue at hand. Indeed, the NRM military dictatorship lacks such
wisdom to address the many land disputes now rearing its ugly head..but then
again..let Kaguta solve it... he will have to deproy heavily!!

Moroto district has rejected a claim by Katakwi that Karimojong living near
the border with Iriiri sub-county had forcefully occupied its land.
The LC5 chairman, Peter Ken Lochap and Bokora MP Terence Achia sodium said
Lomaratoit and alekilekl in Iriiri were in Moroto.
"That is our land and no one should lay claim to it. The border was clearly
demarcated by the colonial administration and the visible marks are there for
everyone to see," Lochap said.
He said one of the ministers who hailed from Teso illegally altered the
border in the 1960s.

"We grew up knowing that the border was marked by an acacia tree planted
after the Alekilet rock," Lochap said.
He wondered why the border district was limited to areas near the
agriculturally rich Iriiri sub-county.
He said Moroto could produce elders who knew the original boundary.
