POLICE are investigating a case in which a man alleged that he found his wife
at home with a pastor after midnight.
Pastor John Rutebuka, a Rwandese by origin was recently reported to have been
offered a Mercedes Benz by his church member, Ms Rose Kaaya on instructions of
God.
He is now being investigated for allegedly being found at Mr Sam Kaaya's home
on the night of November 10.
Kaaya told Daily Monitor that Rutebuka ran away when he saw him. He
reportedly ran after him and lost his mobile phone in the process. He reported
the case to police.
"I don't know what this pastor is up to with my family. After my car, he is
now after my wife. I chased him in the night but he left me. I have reported
the case (SD Ref 02/10/11/06) to police," he said.
But Rutebuka denied the allegations. "I haven't been to Kaaya's home. What I
know is have been to Rose's shop not her home," he said.
About two weeks ago, Rose stunned members of Solution Church in Kakoba
Division when she announced that God had instructed her to give their family
car, a Mercedes Benz, to her pastor to serve the Lord.
On learning this, her husband Kaaya who prays from a different church,
blocked her from giving away the car.
Kaaya told Daily Monitor that a week after he blocked his wife from giving
away the car, he had not got the car keys despite his pleas to Rutebuka to
return them.
"I am surprised the pastor has refused to release the keys. Whenever I ask
for the keys, he plays games, claiming he gave them back to my wife," Kaaya
said on November 1.
  However, Rutebuka denied the claims.
On November 9, Rutebuka told Daily Monitor that he could not take a car in
dispute and that he had returned the keys to Rose who he said was insisting
that he takes the car.
"How can I take the car or hold on to the car keys when I don't have its log
book? Am I mad?" Rutebuka asked.
"I don't have any problem with the car or the couple, Rose is my church
member who came and told the congregation that God had told her to give me
their car."
Rutebuka further said, "As a pastor, I cannot receive a car amid chaos, I
have my money, I can buy myself a car, I did not force Rose to give me the car."

Kaaya also accused Rutebuka of threatening to kill him for having blocked him
from taking the car from his believer, a claim Rutebuka denied.
When contacted about the car issue, Rose said, "Ebyange nabiwa Katonda,
tewali ambanja," (I gave all my property to God. I dont owe anything to anyone).
The DPC Alison Agaba confirmed that the case was registered. He said
investigations are still going on.
