At least 72 killed in Ugandan traffic accident

KAMPALA (AFP) - At least 72 people, including 57 soldiers, have been 
killed in a road accident in eastern Uganda, an army spokesman said 
Monday. 


The accident occurred late Sunday near Kapchorwa, about 400 kilometres 
9250 miles) northeast of the capital Kampala, spokesman Felix Kulaigye 
told AFP.

"A Mercedes Benz semi-trailer carrying over 100 people crashed into a 
road barrier and then overturned, killing 72 people, including 57 
soldiers," Kulaigye said.
