A meeting between US President George Bush and Ugandan leader Yoweri
Museveni later this month is likely to discuss Kenya's General Election
among other issues in the Great Lakes region.

A statement from Bush's Press Secretary, Ms Dana Perino, confirmed the
meeting would be held on October 30, at the White House.

The Uganda-led peace mission to Somalia will be the main agenda of the
meeting, said the statement.

Uganda has set up a comprehensive three-year Peace, Recovery and Development
Plan (PRDP 2007-2009) for the war-torn region. The programme requires US
$180 million per year to implement.

Recent reports from political analysts have indicated Museveni is uneasy
with an ODM win in Kenya's General Election.

"Key ministers in government have concurred with reports that Museveni is
uncomfortable with the likely coming in of Raila," Mr Joseph Ekanya, an
opposition MP in Uganda *told The Standard* on Tuesday.

"Museveni will certainly bring up Kenya's polls for discussions," said
Ekanya.

The meeting will also feature the current tension between Museveni and DRC
President, Mr Joseph Kabila and indictments of LRA leader, Mr Joseph Kony,
and three of his top commanders.
