OPINIONS & COMMENTARIES *THE RIDDLE* | Timothy Kalyegira ...
Kenya's nightmare: Enter 2008
So, CNN, BBC, the Economist Intelligence Unit, the World Bank, the
International Monetary Fund, the Africa Development Bank, the CIA, all
predicted or assumed a smooth election for Kenya and, in the event of a
defeat for President Emilio Mwai Kibaki, a gracious conceding of defeat and
a handing over of power to the main challenger, Raila Amolo Odinga.
The reports and analyses by these world-class news corporations and research
and information hubs are read and taken seriously by a cross section of the
most important decision makers in every country on Earth. Their forecasts
for the Kenyan election fit that mode.
After all, if the former President Daniel arap Moi --- widely regarded as an
iron-handed, old style "African Big Man" --- had been sensible enough to
respect the wishes of Kenyans and had not imposed his anointed successor
Uhuru Kenyatta, surely the gentlemanly Kibaki would more than willingly hand
power over to a victor in the election.
That was how conventional wisdom saw it, and who can blame the analysts,
trained in mainstream, logic-based reasoning. However, there is more,
infinitely more, behind world events than meets the naked eye. The key
question that settles a true and accurate understanding of world history is
something most modern intellectuals and the elite educated don't want to
hear --- the question of whether or not the universe is a purely material,
physical entity or there is a parallel invisible, spirit universe to the
chemical-physical.
If the world is only a physical thing, as most of our best minds believe,
then by all means we should continue to seek an understanding of events
around us by tuning in to the BBC and reading reports by the Associated
Press.
But if, perchance, there is a world of invisible spirit beings like God,
angels, demons, the Devil, and other higher intelligence, as taught to us by
the Qur'an or the Bible, then it changes or ought to, the way we view
events.
Then we must be prepared to recognise the possibility that invisible hands
pull the strings and act on the minds of men, influencing their decisions.
The world, viewed that way, becomes so much easier to understand and with it
we don't need 10,000 newspapers or 200 television news channels.
A good many people thought I was losing my mind, but at no stage did I waver
from stating that, according to a Seer I had met in July 2006, this new year
2008 would bring with it a slew of stunning events that would jolt the East
and Central African region.
I regularly read newspapers, scan the radio and TV airwaves, and the
Internet for news. I regard myself as quite well-informed.
However, I notice more and more these days, to my dismay, that even the
world's top tier of news sources such as the BBC, CNN, Reuters, the New York
Times, and the Economist magazine do not have a broad enough understanding
of what is taking place around the world.
Sure, they have large pools of reporters, correspondents, and editors around
the world. What they do and do fairly well for some of them (especially
Boston's Christian Science Monitor and the UK's BBC) is present a detailed
survey of the world and its news events. But it is in explaining the meaning
behind the news, the true cause, and the real implications, that they are a
disappointment.
The BBC, the world's largest news organisation, is no longer what it was up
to the early 1990s. Today, it is a watered down, light weight broadcaster,
trying its best to fit the taste of today's Hip-Hop, playful generation.
My understanding of the spiritual forces that shape human behaviour and even
decisions by national leaders helps me understand the real force behind the
Kenyan crisis. The Seer helped fill in many valuable blanks in understanding
why Africa is the way it is.
Kibaki's behaviour in almost wilfully plunging Kenya into a crisis that has
in turn created chaos in the economies of her neighbours can be perfectly
understood when you know the invisible forces in the spirit world that act
on men's minds.
In fact, because of the urgency of events in Eastern and the Great Lakes
area of Central Africa, I have started an experimental news letter, to be
delivered by email that will keep track of the news in the region. It is
called the National News Archive and I have already emailed the first
edition to a number of prospective subscribers.
The first edition is devoted entirely to the current political crisis in
Kenya. Keep an eye on the Great Lakes region in 2008. Kenya, even though the
least expected country to kick off 2008 in chaos, is only the first shot in
a wave of death and destruction that will ripple across Eastern Africa.
Coming soon to a town near you.
