Dear Administrator/ Ugandanet
Thank you for circulating information about our TV series, "The Hostel," to
your
members. Would it be permissible for you to kindly send me the entire email
list? My objective would be to send messages to members once our online
distribution platform is launched, strictly on a Blind Copy (B.C.C.) basis,
i.e.
each recipient would only see their own name. Most grateful if this request
could be positively considered.

Best regards
Conrad Nkutu
Managing Director, Fast Track Productions, Kampala
Executive Producer, "The Hostel"

Would you be Interested in a Quality, Made-in-Uganda TV Drama-Comedy Series
(Online Video)?
Hi People,?
I just recently joined?Ugandanet and would like to thank the group's founders
and members for keeping your link to the mother country alive through this and
other fora bringing together Ugandans in the diaspora.
?
Those of you with whom I've interacted before might be aware that I moved
on?from my previous posting as Managing Director of the Daily/Sunday Monitor
newspaper and 93.3 KFM Radio in Kampala in 2007. I spent a couple of years at
the Nairobi head office of Kenya's Nation Media Group, initially as Group
Business Development/ Strategy?Director and later as Managing Director of the
Nation Broadcasting Division (NTV Kenya, NTV Uganda, Easy FM and QFM). I've
since relocated to Kampala and have, in the last year,?set up Uganda's first
professional tv and film production company, Fast Track Productions Ltd.
?
During February 2011, we launched Uganda's first and so far only quality, daily
tv drama-comedy entertainment series, "The Hostel," which airs on NTV in Uganda
at 7.30pm, Wednesday to Saturday. "The Hostel" has quickly emerged as the
country's most popular tv entertainment programme and has been very positively
reviewed by the New Vision, Monitor, Observer (and even the Red Pepper!)
newspapers, in addition to generating a huge volume of Facebook buzz every
week,

with animated debate about the story and the actors and actresses. The huge and
positive volume of discussion about the series on Facebook has motivated very
many Ugandans abroad to check out the 3 episodes we've uploaded to YouTube,
resulting in strong and consistent demands to us to make the entire series
available to Ugandans abroad.
?
Fast Track Productions plans to launch a commercial video-on-demand online
distribution platform on our website, www.fastrack.co.ug, in the next couple of
weeks (mid-April) and the purpose of this email is to get a sense of who and
how

many of our countrymen and women in the diaspora are likely to be interested in
making an online purchase.

?
Kindly visit www.fastrack.co.ug if you're interested in the company's profile
("About Us") and go into the "Hostel" link. Once there, you'll be able to see
what "The Hostel" is about and the direction of its story. You'll also find a
link for "Reviews," containing press articles about the programme, from the
various newspapers. There's also an "Interactive" link that takes you to viewer
comments, posted online. At the bottom of the home page is a link to our
Facebook page, www.facebook.com/thehostelseries, where you'll be able to see
the

huge cult following and daily discussion that the series has attracted in
Uganda. More imprtantly, at the bottom of our web pages is another link to our
YouTube site where you can see the first 3 episodes free of charge.
?
If you are interested enough to want to see the rest of the 90-episode First
Season, kindly drop me an email at [email protected]. We plan to charge
US$9.99 for one month's access (15 episodes, just under half an hour each),
with

the option to pay $24.99 for three months' access (45 episodes) or $44.99 for
six months' access (the full 90-episode Season 1). Once the online distribution
platform is launched in mid-April, you'll be informed via UNAANET, Facebook,
Twitter, ads and press stories in the online versions of Uganda's national
newspapers and announcements in the various Ugandan blogs out there. We'll be
using Paypal as the payment system, so you'll be able to use your various
credit

cards via that well-tested route. Viewing will be via quality streaming (not
dowloads) and we will be hosted in the U.S. to ensure quality, high-resolution
streaming and first-class customer service experience. We'll be leasing server
space from a leading U.S. service provider, to ensure adequate storage and
back-up space.
?
Fast Track Productions and "The Hostel" symbolise three pioneering initiatives
in Uganda's media history: first daily TV entertainment show ever; first
quality, made-in-Uganda drama-comedy production; and first online/ e-commerce
initiative in the area of tv-video content. There are hardly any functional
e-commerce / digital media?businesses operating out of Uganda with an online
payment platform.?We will be proud to offer a highly entertaining, high
frequency tv?series with a fiercely Ugandan cultural?feel to it, to tens of
thousands of Ugandans out there and we plan to bring more programmes online if
the subscriber response is strong. Any Ugandan or person of Ugandan-origin out
there who misses home and wants to get a feel of life in Kampala, contemporary
youth culture and something good, made in the Motherland, is just going to love
"The Hostel."
?
This email is an informal effort at establishing potential market size and
interest. We'd be grateful to hear from you, find out if you're a likely
customer and also to get a feel of whether most subscribers would rather pay
monthly in instalments or make one full payment for the entire Season. We'd be
even more grateful if you could send this email to all your Ugandan and
Ugandan-American friends and relatives out there, many of whom might not be
Ugandanet members. Potential subscribers are kindly requested to include your
full name, email address and if okay with you, phone number and physical
address. Name and email address are essential.
?
Best regards, and Proudly Ugandan!
